Captain Goshorn shifts uncomfortably in the saddle. More heat,
more dust, no Indians, another day of riding behind that fool
in buckskins on what would doubtlessly prove another
senseless patrol. They hadn't seen any Indians since
daybreak and probably wouldn't by nightfall.
In a few days they would arrive at the Little Bighorn,
then maybe the general would return to the
rough comforts of the fort.
